DELAWARE COUNTY REGIONAL WATER

QUALITY CONTROL AUTHORITY (DELCORA)

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the Delaware County Regional Water Quality Control Authority (DELCORA) is preparing an Act 537 Plan Update for the entire service area. The Plan evaluates options for the redirection of wastewater flows from the Eastern Service Area which currently discharges to the City of Philadelphia’s Southwest Water Pollution Control Center to the DELCORA Western Regional Treatment Plant (WRTP) in Chester, PA.  The Plan evaluates four (4) options for the future conveyance, storage and treatment of flows.

 

DELCORA evaluated four (4) alternatives:

  • Alternative 1 – Construction of Pipelines, Pump Stations and WRTP Expansion including wet weather treatment
  • Alternative 2 – Construction of the Tunnel for Storage and Conveyance and WRTP Expansion
  • Alternative 3 – Construction of a new WWTP and the associated Conveyance Facilities
  • Alternative 4 – No Action/continued discharge to the City of Philadelphia

 

The selected Alternative for this plan is Alternative 2.  Upon publication of this notice, a 30-day review and comment period is in effect.  Anyone wishing to review and/or comment may do so during this 30-day period. The Plan Update will be made available on the DELCORA Website www. delcora.org.  Anyone requesting a hard copy of the plan should request it through the Contact Us tab of the DELCORA.org Website: https: www.delcora.org/contact/contact-us/  or contact DELCORA at 610-876-5523, ext. 272.
