Chester, PA – (DATE) The Delaware County Regional Water Quality Control Authority (DELCORA) is excited to announce a Tour & Information Session for its new Workforce Opportunity & Development Internship Program (WODIP) on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the DELCORA Wastewater Treatment Plant, 3201 West Front Street, Chester, PA 19013. The session is mandatory for all interested applicants.

The initiative offers a 12-month internship designed to create pathways to sustainable careers in the Water Environment field. The effort seeks to boost economic opportunity and workforce participation among residents of Chester and the surrounding DELCORA service area while strengthening the regional Water Environment workforce pipeline.

The program will run from January-December of 2026. It includes paid tuition for the Delaware County Community College Wastewater Operator Certification Program, weekly stipends, and experiential learning opportunities. It is open to residents between the ages of 18 and 24. Eligibility requirements include possession of a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass pre-enrollment screenings. Successful participants will complete six hours of weekly in-class instruction, complemented by twelve hours of on-site career development activities at DELCORA.

Although there is no guarantee of employment with DELCORA upon program completion, this initiative aims to expand community access to higher learning, build character and technical skillset while removing barriers to employment.

Through WODIP, we’re opening DELCORA’s doors and creating access for young adults to gain skills and certifications that can improve the quality of their lives.
